Nothing can offer the range of style, practicality, comfort and price that today’s carpet can.
It can be the center of attention, with bold colorations and patterns. It can fade into the background, providing a blank canvas upon which to decorate. It’s comfort food for your world, insulating against the cold, cushioning your feet after a hard day’s work and quieting your space. It can offer high performance where needed, low cost where required. It’s kid-friendly, health-friendly and even eco-friendly. And with continuous improvements in yarn technology, today’s carpet can retain it’s beauty for many years.
In fact, carpeting’s unlimited versatility can result in one of it’s most perplexing problems…that is, “Which Carpet Is Right For Me?”

FINDING THE RIGHT COLOR
Your carpet and the walls are the two largest areas in a room so they control the color theme. When selecting a carpet color, do not limit yourself to how the room looks as it is today. Instead start with the carpet and aim for the right color scheme. Paint or wallpaper is relatively inexpensive. Draperies can easily be changed, and reupholstering the covers for furniture can change the entire feel of a room.
Carpet color and texture strongly influence the character of your room. Rooms that lack sunlight can be warmed and lightened with a sunny yellow, apricot, or a soft warm beige carpet. Cool colors such as blues and greens are often used to soften or cool a room, which has many windows or a sunny exposure. Some additional color selection tips:
- Light colors generally show fewer footprints; dark colors show less soil and stains.
- A dull yarn will show fewer footprints; lustrous yarns, while shiny, will show more highlights and accents.
- To minimize maintenance, light colors are best restricted to areas of the house, which are used less, such as a formal living room, dining room and guest bedrooms.
- Multicolored carpets are extremely effective in minimizing the affects of everyday dirt and soil.
